Description
GEORGE MILLER – TOWN CLERK OF PERTH 1723-1763
STEVE CONNELLY
The subject of this book could truly be said to have lived through interesting times. He grew up during the upheavals of the late 17th century and as he approached adulthood he witnessed the controversial passing of the Act of Union between Scotland and England. His early legal career coincided with the succession of the Hanoverian dynasty. George Miller was to prove himself a loyal follower of that royal house and a supporter of the Union. He managed to survive the upheavals of Jacobite risings, religious dissent and personal scandal to forge a successful and lengthy career as well as creating a small legal dynasty of his own.
